The American Bankers Association would like to congratulate the winners of Lights, Camera, Save! - the video contest that engages teens in educating themselves and their peers about the value of saving and using money wisely. This is an excellent way for budding filmmakers to not only get national exposure for their work, but also earn money towards their own personal savings goals. The students below used their creativity and clever messaging to win big prizes for themselves and their school.
First Place: Oskar Velazquez De Leon for “Advice from My Car”, submitted to U.S. Bank in Mesa, AZ. Oskar will receive a $5,000 savings fund and a $1,500 donation to his school, Highland High School.
Second Place: Zach Gavin for “The Wallet”, submitted to Savings Bank of Walpole in Keene, N.H. Zach will receive a $2,500 savings fund and a $750 donation to his school, Keene High School.
Third Place: Gregory Foster for “Learn How To Save”, submitted to Woodhaven National Bank in Fort Worth, TX. Gregory will receive a $1,000 savings fund and a $300 donation to his school, Young Men’s College Preparatory Academy.
From Nov. 1 - Nov. 30, banks from across the country host the preliminary round of the Lights, Camera, Save! video contest, calling for entries from local teens in their community. Each bank branch then selects a winner to compete on the national level. Once the American Bankers Association has received the local winners, an outside group of industry experts selects the 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place winners. To learn more, click here.
