National Savings Day: Why Saving & Thoughtful Credit Use Go Hand in Hand
This National Savings Day, discover how being intentional with both saving and credit can help you feel more confident and in control of your money.
Related Topics
October 12 is National Savings Day, a day dedicated to celebrating the power of saving and the positive impact it can have on your financial future. At America Saves, we believe that saving and credit are more connected than many people realize, and that being intentional with both can help you feel more confident and in control of your money.
Saving Supports Credit
When you have even a small savings cushion, you’re less likely to rely on credit cards or loans for everyday expenses or emergencies. That means you can use credit as a tool (not a crutch) and avoid racking up balances that become stressful to manage.
Credit Supports Saving
On the flip side, using credit thoughtfully can actually support your saving goals. By paying bills on time and keeping your balances manageable, you build a healthy credit profile. A stronger credit score can open the door to lower interest rates and better financial products, which frees up more money to save.
Tips for Bringing It Together
- Start small with savings. Even setting aside $10 or $20 each paycheck builds confidence and creates a safety net.
- Pay attention to payment history. Making on-time payments is the best way to increase your credit score.
- Keep balances manageable. If you use credit cards, try to use less than 30% of your available limit.
- Automate when you can. Automatic transfers to savings and auto-payments for bills can reduce stress and help you stay consistent.
Celebrate National Savings Day With Us!
This National Savings Day, take a moment to reflect on how saving and thoughtful credit use work hand in hand to create a strong financial foundation. Whether you’re building an emergency fund, paying down debt, or planning for future goals, every intentional step makes a difference.
Remember, it’s not about being perfect; it’s about making progress. And we’re here to support you every step of the way. Take the America Saves Pledge Today! We’ll send you tips, tools and resources to keep you motivated and on track along with way!
