AMERICA SAVES PARTNERS WITH 3,900+ ORGANIZATIONS TO PROMOTE FINANCIAL CONFIDENCE DURING ITS ANNUAL EVENT, AMERICA SAVES WEEK

Poised to Address Heightened Financial Stress Amidst Inflation, America Saves Week 2023 Runs from February 27- March 3 and Marks 16 Years in Operation

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) February 20, 2023 — America Saves, a non-profit organization and initiative of the Consumer Federation of America (CFA), is preparing for its 16th Annual America Saves Week where it helps individuals and communities throughout the United States do a “check-in” on their finances and saving behaviors. As financial hardship and fear lingers from the pandemic and sustained inflation, this year’s event is aimed at not only increasing confidence but providing actionable steps on how to build it. 

“As I'm out talking to everyday Americans about their experience, it's evident that financial stability is a top stressor, and data and insights confirm this,” said Kia McCallister-Young, Director of America Saves. “Financial stability can often feel out of reach, especially in this current economy. What America Saves Week provides is an opportunity for us all to pause and delineate between what we can control and what we cannot, and to make a realistic plan to get us from where we are to where we want to be. It's an honor to guide and support individuals, especially those most financially vulnerable—such as the Black and Latino populations, young people, women and those with a disability—through the process of getting a clear view of their finances, designing savings goals and executing a plan based on their unique situation.” 

America Saves Week 2023 will take place from February 27 - March 3 and will feature special events including the workshop, webinar, town hall and the launch of a new podcast. Each day of the week will focus on a different aspect of the overall theme of “A Financially Confident You.” The week’s schedule includes: 

• Saving Automatically - Monday, February 27, 2023 
• Saving for the Unexpected - Tuesday, February 28, 2023
• Saving for Major Milestones - Wednesday, March 1, 2023
• Paying Down Debt is Saving - Thursday, March 2, 2023
• Saving at Any Age - Friday, March 3, 2023

America Saves and its partners are anticipating another year of great impact following 2022’s findings that saw participants depositing over $1.14 billion dollars into new and existing savings accounts in a 1-week timeframe, a positive sign of the financial readiness of Americans despite continued economic hardship. Additionally, nearly 415,00 individuals reported either opening new savings accounts or depositing into an existing savings account.
